THE SHORT ANSWER

More than 190 Xbox Cloud Gaming games support mouse and keyboard natively in Chrome or Edge on PC. Look for the mouse and keyboard badge, or the "Play with mouse and keyboard" collection on xbox.com/play. For every other game, you need a controller, or an extension that turns keyboard and mouse into one.

How to play with native mouse and keyboard

  1. Open xbox.com/play in Chrome or Edge on a PC or Mac.
  2. Find a game with the mouse and keyboard badge, or browse the "Play with mouse and keyboard" collection.
  3. Start the game. If a game asks you to press a controller button to start, press Enter or click instead.
  4. Go full screen if the mouse isn't captured, and turn off any controller-emulation extension so the game gets your real mouse.

Native support vs a virtual controller

Native support gives true mouse aiming, so use it whenever your game offers it. A virtual controller, such as Cloud Keys, turns keys into buttons and mouse movement into the right stick. It works in games that only accept a controller, but aiming follows the game's stick speed limits. The sensitivity calculator helps you get the feel right.

We only list games that Microsoft named in Xbox Wire posts about mouse and keyboard support, from the May 2024 launch through April 2026. Each row links to that post. Does Fortnite support mouse and keyboard on Xbox Cloud Gaming?

Yes. Microsoft's May 2024 list includes Fortnite (browser only), and Xbox Support notes it works even though it isn't marked with the badge.

Why isn't my game's mouse working?

Either the game has no native support (check for the badge), or the browser hasn't captured the mouse. Try full screen, and turn off other input extensions. If the game has no native support, it needs controller input.
